    Suds and Buds

Suds-n-Buds serves those who are experiencing homelessness in the Huntsville area. The Suds-n-Buds logo stands for laundry bubbles (suds) and pastoral care (buds). “A Cleansing Ministry” indicates the healing and wholeness available when we wash our dirt and care away. While this may seem a strange combination, the two are compatible. The combination of laundry services and the practice of pastoral care turn out to be quite a natural fit as most clients wash clothes on a weekly basis and sit for an hour waiting for their clothes to finish thus providing the perfect opportunity to practice routine pastoral care. While its foremost priority is the clients of First Stop, the ministry is available to all in the homeless community. Laundry services are offered on Tuesday's from 10-2 and Wednesday's from 1-3. Volunteers are always welcome! Contact Rev. Rose Veal Eby for more information, rvealeby@nativity-hsv.org.

Greene Street Market

Who We Are

The Greene Street Market is downtown Huntsville’s producer-only, open-air market for fresh, locally grown vegetables, fruits, meat, and flowers. It’s where you go to meet farmers with gorgeous local produce, grass fed and pasture raised beef and pork, free range chickens and eggs.

Pick up freshly-prepared meals, gourmet popsicles, traditionally-made relishes, cheeses, preserves and breads. And, it’s where local artisans offer their works. It’s a great place to meet your friends, or make new friends, enjoy your family, hear wonderful music, do some shopping, and eat dinner – all in downtown Huntsville.

The Greene Street Market has given over $100,000 to community organizations through the Outreach Committee at the Church of the Nativity.

Making a Difference

The Outreach Committee is pleased to announce Second Mile will receive $20,000 for their BIG "Bringing in the Greene" initiative. This grant will allow Second Mile to:

  • Purchase bulk fruits and veggies, eggs, meat and bread from farmers markets, in bulk to distribute at lunch and snack time, and on Fridays for parents.
  • Install a water bottle filling station in place of the existing broken water fountain.
  • Provide a reusable water bottle for each student and sanitizing machine to cut down on single use plastic waste.
  • Implement a nutrition educational program to get parents on board for a long-term dietary change.
  • Provide supplies for quarterly parent parties where they learn how to cook a healthy meal and receive recipes and gift cards to purchase the ingredients to make the meal at home.

Congratulations to Second Mile and thank you Greene Street vendors and patrons!
