There are singing opportunities at Nativity for anyone starting in the 3rd grade through adulthood. Our choirs sing for Sunday Eucharist as well as several services of Choral Evensong a year, an annual Lessons and Carols service, Compline, and other special services throughout the year such as Holy Week, Easter, Ash Wednesday, Christmas, etc. The choirs’ main season runs from Labor Day through the Day of Pentecost (Sept-May/early June). Historically during the summer months, the choir has also travelled to various places to sing for services. In 2020 our choir was scheduled to sing for a week residence at Ely Cathedral and a weekend at Westminster Abbey. Unfortunately that tour was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
For more information about joining one of our choirs, please contact Director of Music Christian Crocker at ccrocker@nativity-hsv.org or (256)-533-2455 x 207.
The Junior Choristers are our youngest singers at Nativity. During the school year, our choristers rehearse weekly for Sunday Eucharist and the occasional special service. Our choristers begin learning music theory, musicianship skills, vocal technique, and the “ins and outs” of liturgy during these rehearsals. The Junior Choristers join the Senior Choristers and the Adult Choir for weekly Sunday worship.
The Senior Choristers continue their studies in rehearsal not only in music and liturgy, but also by becoming mentors to younger choristers. Senior Choristers join the Junior Choristers for half an hour of their rehearsal time to not only rehearse music together, but to bond with each other and develop mutual respect between all age groups.
The Adult Choir is a non-auditioned choir that is supported by four staff singers. The Adult Choir is joined by the choristers for weekly Sunday worship. The choir sings a vast repertoire that is rooted in the Anglican choral tradition while also paying particular attention to the diversity of choral music in the world.

The Nativity Historic Preservation Foundation grows from the realization that the beautiful and historic buildings that now house the Episcopal Church of the Nativity have been handed down to us in a sacred trust from those who have come before. Recognizing this incredible gift, we are called to be faithful and generous stewards of these buildings by offering our own financial resources to the work of preservation so that generations to come will know and perform the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord that have been and will continue to be inspired through this holy place.
