The Book Class

Description: 21 Lessons for the 21st Century by Yuval Noah Harari
Come join us Sunday mornings as we continue our discussions about our culture, society, history, and what our better angels might have us do. We will be discussing some today’s most urgent issues. Harari untangles political, technological, social, and existential issues and offers advice on how to prepare for a very different future from the world we now live in. Harari’s unique ability to make sense of where we have come from and where we are going has captured the imaginations of millions of readers. He invites us to consider values, meaning, and personal engagement in a world full of noise and uncertainty, where when we are deluged with irrelevant information, clarity is power. Whether or not Harari convinces you that his version of human history is accurate, or whether his predictions about the future of mankind are more likely to come true than others, prepare to be enlightened and highly entertained. If you can't make it in person, join us on Zoom! https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82307785013

The Daughers of the King is an order or, a community under a religious rule; especially one requiring members to take solemn vows. We don’t just enroll as members and attend meetings; we take life-long vows to follow the Rule of Prayer and the Rule of Service.
What is a Rule?
A Rule is a prescribed guide for conduct or action by laws or regulations prescribed by the founder of a religious order for observance by its members. Members of the Order undertake a Rule of Life, incorporating the Rule of Prayer and Service. By reaffirmation of the promises made at Baptism and Confirmation, a Daughter pledges herself to a life-long program of prayer, service, and evangelism, dedicated to the spread of Christ’s Kingdom and the strengthening of the spiritual life of her parish. The Rule of Prayer is a commitment to thoughtfully pray daily, and through the Rule of Service, a Daughter seeks daily to do the will of God.
The Motto of the Order
For His Sake…
I am but one, but I am one.
I cannot do everything, but I can do something.
What I can do, I ought to do.
What I ought to do, by the grace of God I will do.
Lord, what will you have me do?

A new Christian community is formed as Episcopalians from all across the Diocese come together to learn, worship, and experience Christian joy together at Camp McDowell. Cursillo weekends are a time of spiritual renewal and feature a series of talks by lay staff members as well as meditations and daily Eucharist celebrated by clergy. Cursillo weekends are funded by donations from those who have gone through a previous weekend, so there is no cost to attend. Contact David Collette (256-527-2560) or Debbie Collette (256-527-5050).
We have something for everyone! For more information about any of our Sunday or weekday offerings please contact Emily Cantrell,
The Nativity Historic Preservation Foundation grows from the realization that the beautiful and historic buildings that now house the Episcopal Church of the Nativity have been handed down to us in a sacred trust from those who have come before. Recognizing this incredible gift, we are called to be faithful and generous stewards of these buildings by offering our own financial resources to the work of preservation so that generations to come will know and perform the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord that have been and will continue to be inspired through this holy place.
